Our Community

We work with our community to ensure pupils are getting quality experiences outside of school too. If you are interested in what clubs and classes are available for your child in the local area, have a look at the catalogue below:

 Protected Characteristics

Under the Equality Act 2010, schools have a legal duty to ensure the following protected characteristics are not discriminated against. The act protected people from harassment and discrimination and everyone in Britain is protected by this. Please see the nine legally protected characteristics below:

Protected characteristics

We ensure that pupils learn about these characteristics through our curriculum and through quality texts.

British Values

As of November 2014, schools must now promote British values.
The Government has defined British Values as the following: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for all people.

At Freehold Primary Academy we have embedded these into our daily practice and the curriculum. They are also discussed in weekly assemblies and children are given regular opportunities to voice their opinion and make positive contributions to their school community. We ensure that the five British Values are taught in an age appropriate manner: in Early Years for example, pupils will regularly vote for their favourite story whereas further up the school, pupils will consider the importance of voting in an election and what impact this will have on them as they leave education and find their place in a modern and often confusing society.

SMSC

At Freehold, we have considered how pupils will develop socially, morally, spiritually and culturally and have embedded this within all aspects of school life.
