Attendance

At Freehold, our attendance target is 96%. Please ensure your child is in school every day on time. Please remember the new school start time is 8:45am. If your child's attendance is 96% or above, they will receive a treat at the end of each half term! We will also be sharing our weekly attendance with you on Class Dojo so keep your eyes peeled!

School opening times

Children are collected from the MUGA by their teacher at 8:40am ready to start learning at 8:45am. School finishes at 3:15pm and your children will leave school from the circle.

Breakfast Club: Breakfast club opens at 8.15am and finishes at 8.45am when school starts. On arrival, breakfast and juice are provided as well as sport opportunities with Tom, our PE coach. Breakfast Club staff will ensure your child reaches their classroom on time to begin their learning at 8:45am. The cost is 50p per day.

PE Day - Wednesday Morning. Swimming - Monday Morning

Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct school PE kit which consists of a white top, some black shorts/joggers/leggings and a pair of black pumps or trainers, all labelled correctly with you child’s full name.

For swimming, girls need to wear an appropriate swimming costume and swimming cap. They are not allowed to wear any earrings or jewellery. Boys need to wear swimming shorts. Please also bring a towel.

Homework

Every Friday, your child will receive their homework which needs to be completed for the following Friday. It will consist of:

  • Weekly spellings
  • Timestables
  • Reading

Children are expected to read at home at least 3 times a week and record this in their reading records. They should return this every Friday so that teachers can monitor what they are reading at home. We would really appreciate it if you could listen to your child read to support them with their reading. This is also a lovely way to spend time with your child.

Reading a variety of different books, visiting Oldham Library weekly and completing a book challenge will encourage your child to develop a love of reading and broaden their imaginations.

Below are our weekly spellings:

Water Bottles and Snacks

Children should bring a labelled water bottle daily so that they can drink this at the appropriate time. Prior to school, children will be able to purchase a healthy snack from our Tuck Shop. If children choose to bring their own snack to school, please ensure it is a healthy choice.

Uniform

It is expected that children come to school everyday wearing full uniform of skirt/trousers, shirt or white polo top along with a school jumper or cardigan. Children should be wearing smart, black footwear. Trainers are unacceptable. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a waterproof coat. Children play outside in all weather and it may be needed for outdoor lessons.

‘For the full uniform policy please go to the Parent section of the website and look for the subheading School Uniform’

What we are reading

In Guided Reading, we are reading a booked called 'A series of unfortunate events' by Lemony Snicket. We will be completing lots of exciting work around this novel.

Our class author is Sufiya Ahmed. Over the year, we will be studying her life, reading her novels and getting some inspiration from her.
